42 "A Dork's Diary" text icons [Nov. 5th, 2006|05:20 pm]

[Current Mood |contentcontent]

Whoot! More iconage! Sukie uploaded chapter eight of A Dork's Diary, and feeling as though it was one of the best timed uploads this century, as well as wholly appreciating the brand new chapter - here is my gratitude. In the form of 42 icons.

The Inspiration: As before, Sukie's A Dork's Diary: The Memoirs of Keira Matthews is a wonderful, uber-hilarious Harry Potter Fan fiction, as found on Fiction Alley. I've made other icons for this in a previous post, accessed by clicking on the "a dork's diary" tag on this entry.

[x] Please, please, please do comment. Really, you have no idea. Comments give me wings.
[x] Credit me at either x_niyki or niyki
[x] Do not use on MySpace or Xanga
[x] All quotes belong to Sukie, so please, credit her as well.

Other: If there's a typo - let me know so I can sort it out asap. Also, many of these are stand alones which don't require contextualisation. On the other hand, I urge you to go read the fic.

Have just spent fifteen minutes in a psychotic rage trying to find Transfiguration books, to realise I'd already put them in my bag. Collapse )

The Prelude [Oct. 11th, 2006|12:47 pm]

[Tags|, ]
[Current Mood |busybusy]

An excerpt from a new suite of poems entitled This Mess written by yours truly during foreign ventures and escapades of "study".

Welcome to the overt themes of stress and procrastination, of cramming and last minute preparation and finally, venting frustration against literary characters whose fault it most certainly wasn't.

Dear Hareton

the importance of being earnest
and avoiding Heathcliff
at all costs
ensures you Retain Your Property
and the right to tell him
‘Shut up.’
Because, you know how to spell it
and read your name above your door
so you Don’t fall in love
with forlorn first cousins,
screw up your family tree
eventually weirding out
seventeen and eighteen year old randoms
who chose not to damn the curate
and as a reward
ended up being forced
to read about you

This Mess will be released within the next two weeks on-line at a site which is yet to be advised.

Look forward to it. Constructive criticism is appreciated.

But I made a new layout for "Sweep of Grey" last night. Here's a sample: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b248/ovaniko/restoredcopy.jpg

Please, tell me what you think

A Dork's Diary: Suggestions [Aug. 5th, 2006|02:07 pm]

Okay, because I left a note on my review for anyone with suggested quotes from A Dork's Diary, this entry serves the sole purpose of being a place for you to leave said suggestions.

Please, comment below.

Anyone who was looking for the first batch of icons can find them here.

The story can be found here. It is rated PG-13 for language, mind you - so there's my warning, just in case anyone is offended by such language.

If you want to find all my 'A Dork's Diary' entries - whether they be comments, icons, whatever - you may find them here. I will try to link all the icon and suggestion entries together - but I can't promise to be able to succeed wholly.

Femme Fatale [Aug. 5th, 2006|01:55 pm]

[Tags|, , ]
[Current Mood |blahblah]

I was pilfering through my files on my computer (well, technically, it's not mine - for which I'm glad of, for it's rather cruddy) - and came across Femme Fatale

Author’s Notes: This was written as a response to a question I was asked in my mid-year paper for the English Extension One course, year twelve. As a class, we were studying the Crime Fiction genre, one of our prescribed texts being The Big Sleep. The question asked for us to write a narrative using the conventions of the crime fiction genre to place one of the characters from one of our prescribed texts in a contemporary context. I chose Carmen Sternwood from The Big Sleep, the director’s cut (with Humphrey Bogart as Marlowe). My teacher loved my response, and I received 24 out of 25 for my effort.

A special mention is deserved for Michael, who gave me the idea for the murder in this piece.

Disclaimer: I do not own Carmen Sternwood, who belongs entirely to Raymond Chandler, his publishing company, and whichever other parties that are involved in the rights to Carmen Sternwood and The Big Sleep. However, James Delangey, Sargent Hold and the oppurtunistic Robert Lowe are creations that are entirely my own. This is not set in a specific city.

Warning: This piece has a rape scene, and the discovery of a murdered body. It is somewhat graphic, and I do not advise you to read it if you are opposed to these in fictional work.

Rated: NC-17 for the aforementioned scenes and mild profanity.

Femme FataleCollapse )

If you did read it, I hope you enjoyed it. If not, well, that's fine. I'm not expecting any one to.

For those of you who know me very well, and are shocked at the work I have produced - let me say this, CONTEXT! Believe me, I was just as shocked when Mrs. G read it out in class after we received the exam back, realising just how graphic and seedy it was.

A Reminder for the Less Morally Scrupled: This work is my own, belongs to me, and deserves your respect. In other words, do not steal it and claim it as your own. Plagiarism (as the Bored of Studies resource section claims) is an evil sin.
